Introduction

Released in 2003 on the same May day as DVD, Led Zeppelin's How The West Was Won was made up of material from two 1972 California concerts, 25th June at the Forum in Los Angeles and 27th June at Long Beach Arena. A remastered edition of How The West Was Won was released in March 2018.

The liner notes for both releases helpfully indicated which songs were from which concert but any Led Zeppelin fan who had paid any attention at all to past events would have suspected that there might be a little more to the story than that. Here, The Garden Tapes reveals the finer details behind those single and double asterisks.
